Webcor’s San Diego hiking group was born from a casual conversation during a staff check-in meeting earlier this year. As team members discussed their hobbies, it quickly became clear that hiking was a shared passion.

Inspired by the excitement, Sr. Project Accountant Jaimie Houk suggested we go on a hike together. By the following week, we had our sights set on the Potato Chip Rock trail, a scenic route featuring a challenging 1,220-foot elevation gain over 4.1 miles.

Since then, the team has completed three additional hikes—two at Iron Mountain and another at Potato Chip Rock, this time starting from a different trailhead that extended the hike to seven miles.

  • Participants at this most recent Potato Chip Rock hike included Vice President Cecilia Kucharski, Project Director Danny Cueva, Sr. Project Manager Walter Ramirez, Project Manager David Friend, Jaimie, and me. As always, friends and family were welcome—Cecilia, Danny, and Walter each brought a guest to share in the adventure.

One of my favorite things about hiking with the San Diego team is the opportunity to connect with everyone on a more personal level. It’s a fantastic team-building experience that promotes health and well-being while providing a unique chance to learn things about one another that we might not have discovered in the office.

We’re incredibly grateful to have such a motivated and passionate team, and we’re already looking forward to our next hike. We aim to hit the trails every couple of months, and the next adventure will definitely be on the agenda at our upcoming San Diego staff meeting!
