RENOVATION / SEISMIC Many historic buildings present great re-use opportunities but need to be renovated to reclaim their original splendor, and structurally upgraded in order to meet strict code requirements. Dealing with the unexpected is critical to success on these complex projects. Obstacles such as inadequate foundation support, unreinforced masonry and deteriorating steel can all create costly problems. Our approach is to explore existing conditions, perform selective demolition, and quickly identify any problem areas. We work closely with structural engineers and historic architects to create the most cost-effective solutions to integrating new systems into older structures.
